Biography
Ruth Miller McElroy has been an associate at Whitbeck & Cisneros since 2009. Her practice focuses on family law, criminal law and civil litigation. She regularly practices in Loudoun County, Prince William County, Fauquier County, Warren County and the City of Winchester.
Ms. McElroy came to law after a successful career in business. She worked as a financial analyst and comptroller for Fortune 100 companies on both the East and West Coasts. In 1991 she relocated back to the Washington D.C. area to attend law school where she was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, winning numerous state and national team competitions. Ms. McElroy graduated from law school with honors.
After law school, Ms. McElroy was appointed as a Judicial Law Clerk to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and practiced in the areas of vaccine litigation and later in the areas of corporate and non-profit law in the private sector. She is active in the community serving on the boards of several historical preservation groups and supports charitable organizations that address domestic violence and suicide prevention.
Ms. McElroy is married with three children and lives in Haymarket, Virginia.
