Divorce
Whitbeck & Cisneros is devoted to helping you resolve tough legal issues related to your divorce. While most divorces end in settlement, individuals need attorneys experienced in dealing with all aspects of a divorce, including issues related to marital property, taxes, spousal support, child support, child custody and visitation, and pre-/post-divorce planning.
While our firm often represents individuals in “no-fault” divorce situations, our attorneys are experienced in litigating fault-based divorces in such areas as adultery, mental/physical cruelty, and desertion/abandonment cases.
All divorces will have issues related to marital property and support, even if the primary focus of the parties is on the issues related to child custody and visitation. Our firm is experienced in litigating child support, spousal support, and equitable distribution issues, which give our attorneys the ability to assist our clients in all matters pertaining to marital property and support. Our firm has an attorney with a background in finance and investments and with education in the area of accounting. This gives our firm the ability to understand marital property and support issues from a financial perspective and is a valuable asset to our clients in dealing with these issues.
In divorces involving serious issues with either spouse and/or child custody issues, our attorneys not only are equipped to competently assist you in the traditional family law issues involved in all divorces, as well as in more concentrated problem areas such as mental illness/substance abuse, child and teen issues, children with special needs, and school choice and other educational issues, but are also compassionate since they have families of their own. We have an attorney who is a professor of mental illness law at a distinguished law school, who formerly served as a judge for hearings to commit mentally ill individuals and who is affiliated with mental illness advocacy groups. Our attorneys also have experience in school choice issues, special needs education and dealing with local school boards and school personnel. Moreover, our attorneys are trained as and have served as Guardians ad litem for children and have extensive experience in most, if not all, matters involving children. In addition to the services we offer above, our attorneys are also experienced in areas of spousal and child physical and/or mental abuse and child sexual abuse cases. Our attorneys have not only aggressively prosecuted cases involving these sensitive issues, but have also represented individuals accused of such actions in family law and criminal cases
