Criminal Defense Overview

Whitbeck & Cisneros have developed a large part of its practice in the area of criminal law. There is not a time a person is more in jeopardy than when they are facing criminal prosecution at the hands of the government.

This is true everywhere, but even more so in Virginia, as Virginia has some of the toughest criminal laws in the country and the resources to prosecute individuals to the fullest extent of the law.

This superiority in resources, coupled with many of the rules and laws being purposefully stacked against a defendant, make the hiring of an experienced, aggressive and competent criminal lawyer all the more important.

Putting Your Best Defense Forward

The attorneys at Whitbeck & Cisneros take the position that no matter how serious the offense and no matter how bleak the outcome appears, an attorney should examine all possible defenses and tactics within the bounds of professionalism and integrity to protect a client.

A Tradition of Success

Our attorneys have worked hard to ensure that our firm’s credibility is a solid asset for our clients. We are frequently able not only go to trial in criminal cases with success, but we also frequently are able to resolve criminal cases with plea agreements that mean a better outcome for clients than if they had gone forward with a full trial. However, as a litigation firm, going to court and trying cases in a competent and aggressive manner is our primary focus.

Below is an overview of many of the areas of criminal law in which our firm practices. While the offenses described below are some of the more common charges our firm handles, our attorneys have experience in many other criminal cases including, but not limited to, animal cruelty matters, high speed police chase offenses, fraud, false pretenses and other “white collar” offenses, malicious wounding, gang-related offenses and much, much more.
